The Siloso Incident
06 January 2010 - 4:24 p.m. I must be pretty outdated. Apparently, the news about a molestation case in Siloso sparked off a series of debates as to why nobody helped the victim when the molest took place openly in a public event. It seemed as though there were many versions and unless you were there, it's pretty hard to distinguish which was the real one. There were some who said that the victim deserved it because of her behaviour. There were some who said the victim was a guy in disguise. There were some who wanted the offenders to be taken to task. There were some who thought this was just some PR stint. Others blamed it on the influx of foreign workers. In any case, nobody deserves to be molested whether or not their behaviour was questionable. And nobody has the right to molest whether or not the victim's behaviour was questionable. In this age and time, people are becoming more and more condoning of wild events and behaviours. It is our responsibility to safeguard ourselves simply by staying sober and avoiding those places. It's exactly at this kind of wild events, perverts and sexual predators like to lurk and prey on unsuspecting females. Why go there and compromise your own security? Why drink and impair your own judgment? Most certainly, nobody should count on anyone else to rescue them. For all you know, others may be even too intoxicated to help. Turn the other way and run, even at the mere appearance of evil. For those evil molesters, God will judge, even if the law doesn't. And when that day comes, it's not going to be pretty. Please flee evil, even the appearance of it.
